My Journey to Confidence, Peace, and Purpose
I am on a journey. To finding confidence, peace, and purpose. I want to tame the chaos which I have lived in for many years. After having my third child, I realized that I didn’t know who I was anymore. I literally felt crazy. I couldn’t concentrate. I was spinning my wheels, constantly overwhelmed. I would cry often and yell even more often. Mostly at my kids, sometimes at my husband. It felt like the chaos was suffocating me, and I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to get my life under control. This is the start of my journey on how I found confidence and purpose after motherhood.
The Start of the Struggle: Feeling Lost and Out of Control
Before I had children, I had a sense of who I was and what I wanted out of life. I was independent, focused, and confident. But after my third child was born, it all started to change. I found myself stuck in an endless cycle of stress, fatigue, and self-doubt. The chaos that came with motherhood completely derailed me. It wasn’t just the sleepless nights or the daily grind of diaper changes and school drop-offs—it was a deeper, emotional turmoil that left me questioning my purpose.
Every day felt like a battle. My energy was drained, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find a sense of balance. I started to feel like I was just surviving each day, not living it. I longed for peace and confidence, but every time I thought about making a change, I felt completely lost. It seemed like the harder I tried to manage it all, the worse it got. This is when I decided I needed to do something about it, or I would lose myself entirely.
Google: Make my life better
I started where I thought I could have the most control: weight loss. At that time, I was tipping the scales at 240 lbs, feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from my body. Weight had always been a struggle for me, and now it felt like my body was betraying me, adding to the emotional toll of motherhood. I was desperate. I scoured the internet for the best, fastest way I could lose weight. This led me to juicing.
Soon, I discovered the amazing benefits of juicing vegetables and fruits. I started detoxing and found that I was losing weight fairly easily. I was excited, but I knew that something deeper was at play. This wasn’t just about losing weight—it was about reclaiming my health and vitality, both physically and emotionally. Juicing gave me the energy I had been missing for so long, but I realized there was still more to my struggle.
A Life-Changing Documentary: Hungry for Change
Eventually, my journey led me to a documentary called Hungry for Change. This documentary changed my life trajectory from that first moment I watched it. A light of passion flickered within me. I couldn’t get enough information. The film focused on the effects of processed food and sugar and how it impacts our bodies, brains, kids, and overall health. It opened my eyes to why I had been feeling so awful. My energy was depleted because I wasn’t fueling my body with the nutrients it needed. I had been ignoring my body’s needs in exchange for convenience and comfort.
My husband and I immediately took action. We started to change the way we ate and shopped. I felt empowered by the knowledge I had gained. This was the first step in my transformation—making healthier choices that didn’t just impact my body, but my mind and soul as well. I was hooked on the idea that food and mindset were deeply interconnected.
Diving Deeper: The Power of Documentaries
I continued to educate myself by watching more documentaries. I went down a rabbit hole of knowledge, wanting to learn everything I could about food, health, and wellness. Some of the films I watched included:
-
- Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead
- The Gerson Miracle
- Food Matters
- May I be Frank
- Search YouTube, Netflix, Amazon or other streaming services for documentaries
And so many more…
These films taught me about the profound connection between our physical health and mental well-being. But it was after watching Hungry for Change that one speaker, Jon Gabriel, really resonated with me. His story was my story. Jon had struggled with weight for most of his life, trying every diet under the sun. Yet, he found that no matter what he did, he kept gaining weight. He soon realized that it wasn’t just about dieting and exercise—it was about addressing the mental and emotional factors that were contributing to his struggles.
were contributing to his struggles.
A Life-Altering Realization: The Mental Shift
This finally clicked for me. I realized that this was the key to my struggle. Sorting out the crazy in my life would not only get me out of “crazy town” but also put me on the path to reclaiming my confidence, peace, and purpose. Once you deal with all of the mental and stress issues, you start realizing what is going on within yourself. All of your happiness comes from within. It’s about making peace with yourself first before you can truly move forward in life.
I had been focusing so much on external solutions—weight loss, food, exercise—but I hadn’t been addressing the root cause of my stress and dissatisfaction. I realized that to truly heal, I needed to make a mental shift. I needed to stop fighting against my body and mind and start working with them. This was the turning point. This was where my real journey began.
Finding Peace and Confidence
If you’ve ever felt stuck or overwhelmed, I encourage you to take that first step towards finding your inner peace and confidence. For me, it all started with small changes—one step at a time, one healthy choice at a time. I began addressing my emotional and mental health alongside my physical health, and this shift completely changed my life.
It’s easy to feel lost in the chaos of everyday life, especially when juggling the demands of motherhood. But taking small, intentional steps towards a better you can have a profound impact on your overall well-being. You don’t have to do it all at once. Start with one change, whether it’s your diet, your mindset, or your daily routine. Take that first step, and see where it leads. I promise you, the journey will be worth it.
